Kitchen Must Haves

My Kitchen Must Haves

The most important part of my home is my kitchen; it is my place, the only place my children do not seem to take over! I love cooking and since my husband works from home and I am a stay at home mom, I am feeding my family all day long, seven days a week. That just sound exhausting as I write it. So I am always looking for ways to make my life easier in the kitchen- Lazy mom style.  So here is a list of my must haves to make life fantastic

Keurig Coffee Maker

You do not speak to me until I have my cup of coffee; I am quite the grump before I have my coffee. I have been through so many coffee pots and they have all stopped working so finally my hubby bought me a Keurig. Seriously, everyday I was dumping coffee down the drain because we just could not finish a pot. (I do not like reheating coffee, yuck) This way I can have my one cup of coffee and maybe a second if I am feeling extra lazy during the day and not waste a single drop of heaven. I have heard people talk about how the coffee is expensive but we buy a box of 120 from Costco for around $30.

Ninja Blender

What can’t you blend or mince in this thing? Mine came with a normal blender, a small blender for mincing veggies or to make dough, and two cups with a blender for single serve smoothies or shakes. I use this every single day to make my protein shake. Making brownies, cake or cookies is so much easier with the dough setting on the blender, throw it in and push the button. I don’t know about you but I don’t have unlimited amount of time to make my kids goodies and any way I can speed up the process is a plus.

 Food Saver

Since we live in the middle of no where, with small grocery stores that charge an arm and a leg for anything you buy, this has been so nice to have! We buy groceries in bulk. Like tons of groceries at once, last shopping trip my husband and I walked out of the store with three shopping carts. Keeping food good is a priority for us, the longer I can keep it in my freezer or fridge the better. I also love making freezer meals to defrost and throw in the crockpot, so being able to cut bag size and vacuum seal the bag is a dream come true. This has made shopping trips few and far between. Score for mom!

Crockpot/Slow Cooker

A crockpot is my absolute favorite thing to cook in. Throw in all your ingredients in the morning and let it cook all day long. For a new mommy, working mom or the lazy mom (Me) this is perfect! Some nights come 6 or 7 I realize I still have to make dinner and lets be honest after a long day cooking is the last thing I want to do. Anything you want to cook always taste better in the crockpot, cooking on low of 6-8 hours just lets all the seasonings and juices really soak into whatever you are cooking. So this is really a win-win for me and the family; delicious food and minimal prep time for mom.

Food Containers

So much better than traditional Tupperware! These three compartment food containers allow me to food prep for the rest of the week. Since I am currently “dieting” (I hate that word) I can make my meals for four days to save time and stress. I really like the separate compartments so I am able to keep the correct portions for my food: proteins, carbs and vegetables. They are microwave safe and reusable, making it a must have for me. Also super handy if you have little ones, fill them with snacks, snap the lid on and down the road you go. They stack really well so they can be placed in your to go bag no problem. Throw away those silly little snack bags!

These must haves are just right for our family and make my time in the kitchen much more enjoyable. Saving time as a busy mom and wife is a priority so I can give my much needed attention to other areas of my life.

I am always looking for more ways to make life easy in the kitchen so if you have any suggestions let me know!
